I am a Drama Therapist and received my Masters in Drama Therapy from New York University. I also have a certificate in Creative Arts Therapy from The New School University. I became interested in Sandplay Therapy while a student at NYU. One of our required courses is a Projective Techniques class in which Sandplay was one of the techniques introduced to us.
I have worked with various populations including: children who have witnessed domestic violence and adults with chronic mental illness. Currently, I am working at an elementary school with children who have behavioral issues utilizing Drama Therapy and Sandplay Therapy.
I have been training in and studying Sandplay Therapy since 2009. In addition, I have taken 44 hours of Dr. Barbara Turner’s online courses. Currently, I am participating in Dr. Turner’s group supervision and have completed 14 hours.
Sandplay Therapy is a fascinating and effective modality. I have used it with all of the populations that I have worked with. It gives a voice to those who have difficulty expressing themselves. It is a self-healing process that gives the client the power to heal themselves with the therapist as the “holder of the space,” supporter, and guide. I am looking forward to continuing my studies.
