Jo Sellam, PgDip Fine Art, Art Therapy
I am a state registered Art Therapist HCPC, BAAT. I have extensive experience of working across a variety of mental health settings providing Sandplay Therapy and Art Therapy in the National Health Service, voluntary organizations, schools and private practice. I currently work at the Maya Centre, London providing group art therapy for women suffering from abuse and trauma. I work with issues such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma and sexual abuse.
I am experienced in providing personal therapy for trainee sandplay therapists, art therapists and play therapists.
Sandplay Therapy is invaluable at all stages of life; it enables us to engage with our inner world. The experience of creating and then experiencing the image’s power to reverberate back to the maker is a double blessing.
I studied sand play therapy with Barbara Turner. (Also with BISS as AST had not come into being at that time.)
I have been guided for many years by my teacher in studies of Western mysticism and this too informs my understanding of the psyche and our relationships with each other and with the physical world and the unseen world. I am grateful to all my teachers and all my clients.
