Assessment of Fundamentals of Sandplay

The Fundamentals Assessment can be taken instead of completing Dr. Turner’s Course Series 100 & 200 on her website. It is designed to show your working familiarity with the classic literature on Jungian Sandplay.

This assessment covers the foundational Sandplay texts:

  • HG Wells’ Floor Games

  • Dora M. Kalff’s Sandplay

  • Estelle L. Weinrib’s Images of the Self

To ensure clarity in practicing Sandplay, AST encourages therapists to have a working knowledge of these classic materials. The assessment is open book, with questions created to deepen your understanding.

Note: Members who have completed Dr. Turner’s online Courses Levels 100 & 200 are exempt from this requirement.

Assessment of Understanding Sandplay Therapy

The Understanding Sandplay Assessment evaluates your comprehension of Sandplay therapy and how it facilitates psychological healing and change. To prepare, you should review your training materials. Additional helpful resources include:

  • The Handbook of Sandplay Therapy for insights on Jungian theory and dynamics

  • Dr. Turner’s online Courses, Level 300 for a comprehensive, practical experience with Jungian theory in Sandplay

Because training varies globally, if your program lacked core clinical components needed for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, consider free online courses offered by MIT OpenCourseWare, especially:
